What I've been up to...

These few days I've been having some skin allergy called Cold Urticaria.
Or also known as Hives.

Taken from Wikipedia:

Cold Urticaria (essentially meaning "cold hives") is an allergy where hives (urticaria) or large red welts form on the skin after exposure to a cold stimulus. The welts are usually itchy and often the hands and feet will become itchy and swollen as well. Hives vary in size from about the size of a pencil eraser (7 mm diam.) to as big as a fifty pence piece (27 mm diam.) or larger. The disease is classified as chronic when hives appear for longer than 6 weeks; they can last for life, though their course is often unpredictable. This disorder, or perhaps two disorders with the same clinical manifestations, can be inherited (familial cold urticaria) or acquired[1] (primary acquired cold urticaria). The acquired form is most likely to occur between ages 18–25.

Cause

The hives are a histamine reaction in response to cold stimuli, including a drastic drop in temperature, cold air, and cold water. There are many causes for cold hives, most are idiopathic (meaning they have no known cause). Some rare conditions can cause cold hives, and it can be useful to test for these conditions if the cold hives are in any way unusual.

To put all these words into simpler explanation:
I'm actually having many red patches all over my body, especially on my hands, arms and thighs.
I've been taking 2 types of medicines prescribed from a doctor at Mt. Alvernia Hospital.
Prednisone and Desloratadine.
And to prevent the itch, doctor asked me to use Calamine lotion, but it's not helping.
I've taken leave from attachment from last Friday and now for the next 3 days, Mon-Wed. -.-It's really making me very restless, irritated and itchy!
The medicine is to be taken at night about 11pm, before I go to bed.
And it helps until the next day, early afternoon.
From late afternoon onwards, the red spots tend to come back again and the itch too.
hais... :(

A designer a day, keeps the blues away #3

Designer #3:
Burberry

Founder of Burberry: Thomas Burberry
Chief Creative Officer at Burberry: Christopher Bailey
Taken from Wikipedia:
Burberry Group plc (LSEBRBY) is a British luxury fashion house, manufacturing clothing, fragrance, and fashion accessories. Its distinctive tartan pattern has become one of its most widely copied trademarks. Burberry is most famous for its iconic trench coat, which was invented by founder Thomas Burberry. The company has branded stores and franchises around the world, and also sells through concessions in third-party stores. HM Queen Elizabeth II andHRH The Prince of Wales have granted the company Royal Warrants. The Chief Creative Officer is Christopher Bailey. The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.
According to Business Weekly, Burberry is the 98th most valuable brand in the world.[2]

5 things I like about this designer:
1) He's charming even when he's serious! :)

2) He is able to transform a old-British brand into an iconic luxury fashion house that is sought after!
3) They know how to market their products well so as to bring in revenue.
4) They are strong in the ever-competitive fashion industry.
5) Christopher Bailey is one amazing designer, what else can I say? :)
Some designs of his I love the most:

How he inspires me as a designer:
Though most of the top designers are from London, Burberry still manage to stay on top of the game. With the amazing irreplaceable trench-coat and the classic checker design, it has gained worldwide recognition and fame. I've learnt that with just one simple base pattern, you can make it to become different and special by adding on other elements. I'm keeping my eyes on the Nova check wallet and trench! :)

A designer a day, keeps the blues away. #2

Designer #2

Chanel

Taken from Wikipedia:
Gabrielle Bonheur "CocoChanel (19 August 1883 – 10 January 1971)[1] was a pioneering French fashion designer whose modernist thought, menswear-inspired fashions, and pursuit of expensive simplicity made her an important figure in 20th-century fashion. She was the founder of one of the most famous fashion brands, Chanel. Her extraordinary influence on fashion was such that she was the only person in the couturier field to be named on Time 100: The Most Important People of the Century.[2]
5 things I like about this designer:
1) She's classy, graceful, elegant and full of poise!2) Her designs are so classic and a little vintage-y but never goes out of trend.3) Her over-growing love for the fashion industry is very inspiring.4) She has an amazing colony of designers(talk about Karl Lagerfeld - Chief Designer for Chanel since 1983!) under her hands, which makes her brand and name live forever!5) 'Super' woman! :)
Some designs of her's I love the most:

Haha! the last two is not counted. It's illustration of delicious goodies with Chanel packaging!
But how nice, isn't it? :)

How she inspires me as a designer:
Even at age 87, she still takes her work seriously and looks over her preparation for Spring Collection 1971. Her never-ending love for fashion makes me very inspired to pursue my dreams and do not be afraid to step out into the big, competitive fashion world. A brand founded in 1909, it is still much alive and will forever be the most sought for high-end luxury brand in many people's eyes. She's a definite Super Woman!

A designer a day, keeps the blues away

OK.
I am not a good 'title-namer', so, I'll just elaborate more.

I've been thinking through these few days.
If I want to create a brand of my own, a fashion style to call mine,
I would need to do lots of research first!
Mainly, researching on designers, both local and worldwide well-known, and also bloggers.

So, everyday, I'm going to research on 1 designer.
Thus the title: A designer a day, keeps the blues away.
Blues as in my worries, my problems and also the doubts.
Without those blues, I believe I can become successful(definitely not overnight, but at the very least.).

Designer #1 (My top most favourite designer!)

Alexander McQueen(R.I.P!)

Taken from Wikipedia:
Lee Alexander McQueenCBE (17 March 1969 – 11 February 2010) was a British fashion designer and couturier best known for his in-depth knowledge of bespoke British tailoring, his tendency to juxtapose strength with fragility in his collections, as well as the emotional power and raw energy of his provocative fashion shows.[2] He is also known for having worked as chief designer at Givenchy from 1996 to 2001 and for founding his own label under the nameAlexander McQueen.[2] His achievements in fashion earned him four British Designer of the Year awards (1996, 1997, 2001 and 2003), as well as the CFDA's International Designer of the Year award in 2003.[2]
5 things I like about this designer:
1) His creativity strikes me the most!
2) In the ever-growing large industry of fashion, he is willing to take the risk and create fashion
like you've never imagined.
3) He worked his way up, from a Chief Designer to being his own brand Designer! :)
4) His designs are one-of-a-kind, and it shows how much work and energy he put into it.
5) He has the willpower and motivation in him.
Some designs of his I love the most:

How he inspire me as a designer:
With his bold creativity and daring-ness, I learnt that to be unique and to stand out,
one has to have a certain style. You can follow the trend but have a distinctive feature in
your designs is important! Don't be afraid of trying out colours, prints and whatnots.
Your design may seem weird and look funny but it is what makes you stand out in the crowd.
